Kid-Friendly Cute and Educational

in Clothing, Crafts, Featured Crafters, Felt, Handmade, Home, Kids on 15/06/13

I love the bulk of my items to be educational. I have 4 little rugrats and, as a parent, I want my kids to be learning as they are playing!

Random Facts About You?

I love to find and try new recipes cause I love to eat them!

I once busted my knee open repelling down a mountain.

I love to inhale books...sleep is secondary.

I love fires...in fire pits, candles, fireplaces, my gas stove...OK, well contained fires.

What got you started crafting?

I grew up crafting. From beading necklaces to tying friendship bracelets to scrapbooking and almost anything in between! I have to be creative in some way or I'll go stir crazy....just ask my husband! :)

I started my Etsy shop when I made and taught a class making Onesies...everyone there said I should be selling them..so I started! I then added the felt sets I made for my 3 year old for Christmas when I couldn't find the felt sets I wanted anywhere, the rest is history!

What is your source of inspiration?

My inspiration comes from wanting something not currently available (which is why I started making felt board sets in the first place!) or from something I see ...my brain is always thinking of new things to try and keeps going until I figure out all the kinks. Then it thinks of something new!

What have you made recently?

I've recently made my Ice Cream Cone Color Matching Felt Board Activity Set! I had my idea for it after coming across some of the images and after some trial and error and some altering made my idea into a reality! It was so exciting to see it look exactly like I pictured it in my head!

Where do you sell your crafts presently?

I sell my felt board sets, magnet board sets, Onesies and felt boards on Etsy and Zibbet. Just look for byMaree, and you'll find me!

Why are handmade crafts important to you?

I love that each handmade piece is made with love. You can see it. You can feel it. It brings people together in ways that are not possible with big box stores. I also love that with handmade all things are possible that you can dream up! I get custom requests all the time (even if they are "requests" by me wanting something that is just not out there!) and I do my very best to meet those needs/wants. You just don't have that freedom to dream shopping at any other place. They either carry it, or they don't. End of discussion. With handmade you can always ask to see if your needs can be met with something custom. I love that!
