I am inspired many times by my materials. The variety of yarn fibers, colors, textures are just so lovely. I’m also inspired by living my entire life in the northern parts of the US. Experiencing cold winters and hot summers causes one to have a large variety of clothing and accessories.
Sara Nicole
I've lived in the small farm towns, the mid-size towns and large cities. However, I love the American city the best!
The most favorite place I've traveled to is London, England
I have a Bachelors of Art in Art History with a focus in Architecture and Design
I have been married for just about 2 years to a cinematographer
What got you started crafting?
I have been artsy and crafting my entire life. I'm so blessed to have parents that have encouraged me in all my creative endeavor whether it was the coloring book when I was four or selling on Etsy now that I'm twenty-four! I do come from a creative family and so it was no surprise to anyone that I went to art school, studied art or opened up shop to sell my own pieces!
What is your source of inspiration?
I am inspired many times by my materials. The variety of yarn fibers, colors, textures are just so lovely. I'm also inspired by living my entire life in the northern parts of the US. Experiencing cold winters and hot summers causes one to have a large variety of clothing and accessories. I continue to learn from this and create items that work for all temperatures.
What have you made recently?
Recently I made a pair of baby sandals. The pattern itself is not my own, however the yarn choices, colors etc are very different than the original concept the pattern portrayed. I think that is most important. Even if you DO work from a pattern it's important for you to still voice your own style into the piece via material, color, etc. I absolutely love how the sandals turned out and hope they become a top seller!
Where do you sell your crafts presently?
Right now my knit and crochet items are only available on Etsy. Some day I'd love to get pieces wholesaled into some boutiques.
Why are handmade crafts important to you?
I firmly believe that you typically get a much better quality project when buying handmade as well as much better customer service. You can't go in to the mall and see a shirt on the rack and ask an employee to customize it to your size or color preference. However, you can with a handmade artist!
Also, while buying handmade you are directly supporting the individual artist...you are supporting a long history of items traditionally being handmade.
