My first bracelets came into being as something constructive and positive to do while recovering from a sudden and life threatening illness.
Two years ago this June, I woke to find myself in the intensive care unit with absolutely no knowledge of how I got there. I learned that I had become ill from an infection that was a side effect of a routine tooth extraction. I came very close to dying, had several life saving surgeries, and am blessed to be here today.
I lost my job, home, and life as I knew it, but surviving such a near death experience has made me feel and believe that I am indeed – CHARMED. Hence my name, Charmed Design.

What is your source of inspiration?
My jewelry reflects my experience and love for life. After coming so close to death, almost anything can be an inspiration. I try and use symbols and stones in my designs that have meaning and spirit. For instance, one of my favorite charms to use is the tree of life. The tree of life symbolizes many things, including wisdom, protection, strength, bounty, beauty, and redemption.
What have you made recently?
One of my favorite recent projects was a set of bracelets for a group of friends who were all taking a vacation together. Each bracelet contained charms for both luck and protection. The design was a knotted satin bracelet that wrapped around the wrist four times. Each bracelet had several charms that were the same and then I used something unique to make each different fromt the rest.
Where do you sell your crafts presently?
I sell online on Etsy.com. I also have several wholesale and consignment accounts with shops and yoga studios.
Why are handmade crafts important to you?
Every handmade item has a story and a real person behind it, you can't find that at a big box store. Handmade puts color into what has largely become a vanilla colored world. I buy handmade to support local economies. I wear handmade to be different from the massess.
