Hanging out with my girls is one source of inspiration. I can act like a teenager again and that really inspires me to create cool items for the younger generation.
Jennifer Helmly
I'm currently in my 5th year as a Girl Scout Leader. I love working with tween girls. They are a lot of fun.
I've been told that my homemade mac & cheese is better than Paula Deen's.
I love to watch Project Runway with my tween daugher.
I received the President's Award for Community Service and I was featured in a local magazine.
What got you started crafting?
I've always dabbled with crafts but it didn't fully evolve until I became a Girl Scout leader. Then I was constantly looking for crafts for the girls to do and I became braver in own crafting pursuits.
What is your source of inspiration?
Hanging out with my girls is one source of inspiration. I can act like a teenager again and that really inspires me to create cool items for the younger generation.
What have you made recently?
I'm experimenting with juice pouches and fabric to create a line of tween purses for my etsy shop. I love working with juice pouches because they are so colorful and cute. It's fun pairing them up with fabric and creating something unique for girls this age.
Where do you sell your crafts presently?
I have an Etsy shop and I am planning to do my first booth this spring.
Why are handmade crafts important to you?
When something is handmade it took imagination and time and love to make it. These are all things that you won't find down at your local Wal-Mart.
