I love to see the expression on the faces of people who admire my work. Then they want to know how do you do that? So then I can explain the process or make up something silly to tell them.
Gary Anderson

Love woods of all kinds. Travel all over the USA to get various woods. From Texas to Florida to Oklahoma and beyond to get the best looking woods I can find.
Sometimes we even dumpster dive to get wood scraps to make small items out of, we call it recycling!!
Our cute little piggy banks make the kids so happy. They love being able to see the penny we put in each one of the banks. Some kids try to get it out.
My father taught me all about wood and being a carpenter.
What got you started crafting?
My wife and I have been doing some kind of handcrafted things ever since we got married (a long time ago). We started off doing all kinds of macrame projects. We sold many macrame things over several years. Then we started doing other things like making western style jewelry and selling clothing then we moved on to the wood things and have been doing that for quite a number of years now. We just love making things and seeing the appreciation on peoples faces as they admire the woods and textures and the beauty of nature. That brings us joy too.
What is your source of inspiration?
I love to see the expression on the faces of people who admire my work. Then they want to know how do you do that? So then I can explain the process or make up something silly to tell them.
What have you made recently?
I am in the process of making 40 new piggy banks for our upcoming shows. It takes a lot of steps in the process of making a simple piggy bank. Then I have to decide colors and paint each one as I decide what I think the kids will like.
Where do you sell your crafts presently?
We sell at various arts and craft shows in Texas, probably about 15 a year. We sell on our website at andersonwoodworks.com also we sell on Etsy and FunkyFinds. I try to keep a calendar on our website to show what shows we will be attending.
Why are handmade crafts important to you?
Everyone at our shows appreciate handcrafted items because of the quality of the work rather than a processed item from an assembly line or made in a foreign country. That makes me inspired to do more creating.
