I remember walking through museums when I was young and admiring all the beautiful work I saw there and wanting to be able to create something like that. I drove my mother crazy painting and drawing on everything I could find.

I don't like coffee (this apparently is an anomaly in the sleep-deprived arts and crafts world :).
I have way too many books in my house. My husband bought me a Kindle hoping that would help the situation. It hasn't.
There is a giant concrete hippo in my backyard. It has moved with us three times now (the movers always take pity on my daughter who is in love with the thing).
When I watch "The Fresh Beat Band" with my two-year-old, I always dance with her to the music.
What got you started crafting?
I remember walking through museums when I was young and admiring all the beautiful work I saw there and wanting to be able to create something like that. I drove my mother crazy painting and drawing on everything I could find.
What is your source of inspiration?
My daughters. Plain and simple. They love stories and storybook art--they are insatiable art connoisseurs. They encourage and inspire me to creative more and more everyday.
What have you made recently?
Because of the unusually bad weather we've been having here in Texas, I've been stuck at home for almost a week. All the extra time has enabled me to start on a series of bunny paintings that I hope will be the prototype for an upcoming children's book. I am working on painting bunnies doing different rabbity things, like picking flowers, holding red balloons and helping friends pick apples. I am using small canvases so I can really focus on the character.
Where do you sell your crafts presently?
I've been painting for years and selling off and on locally. Only months ago did I start to sell online--it's been fantastic!
Why are handmade crafts important to you?
I love offering one of a kind original paintings. They're all very special to me, and it makes me happy when they find a home where they will be loved.
