Unique Accessories for Unique People.

in Crocheting, Featured Crafters, Handmade on 31/08/12

I have just been making a hat in the style of a hood using a chunky marbled acrylic. I wanted to make something different to the hats I had been making. I start off with the idea, allow it to stew in my mind for a few days until I more or less have a plan for making it. The first one of any style takes the longest as i am working it out as I go along. I only pulled this one out once and started again. I think the yarn alone makes it stand out and the style is something different to the norm.

Random Facts About You?

I love to create with yarn and watercolours.
I am a wife, mother and grandmother.
I find patterns too complicated and design my own creations..
A little bout of ill health set me on this path and since then I like to step out of my comfort zone and try something different.
I write verse every day for my blog.

What got you started crafting?

A little booklet on crocheting I found when we moved house when I was 10 years old. I taught myself from that and my grandmother taught me to knit. A bout of ill health had me immobilised for a while and that started me branching out, designing everything I make. I had so many new things that I started selling online.

What is your source of inspiration?

Yarn of any sort just sets me off with ideas.

What have you made recently?

I have just been making a hat in the style of a hood using a chunky marbled acrylic. I wanted to make something different to the hats I had been making. I start off with the idea, allow it to stew in my mind for a few days until I more or less have a plan for making it. The first one of any style takes the longest as i am working it out as I go along. I only pulled this one out once and started again. I think the yarn alone makes it stand out and the style is something different to the norm.

Where do you sell your crafts presently?

I sell online from my website. I have an Etsy shop, a Folksy shop and another on Wow Thank You.

Why are handmade crafts important to you?

Each piece in handmade is so individual and always so well crafted. I find handmade much better quality than mass produced. I love to buy handmade for myself as well as to give as gifts.
