Today’s featured crafter has just one wish – “I wish Bjork would wear my stuff!”
We’ll see what we can do about that 🙂
Clio Honig
- I have an incurable addiction to condiments.
- I keep the tiniest pieces of leftover fabrics. OVERLOAD!
- I'm never bored when I'm home alone.
- I have a recurring craving for raw fish.
What got you started crafting?
I studied fashion design, and during my studies I was always drifting away from the work I had to do to make something randomly crafty with whatever was laying around.
Since then between my painting and jewelry making, I never stopped, I'm never bored, I always want to be back home to make something, even if I'm just at the bank fixing papers, I get so bored and eager to get back home to make something new.
What is your source of inspiration?
robots, colours, people, stupid celebrity blogs (which I'm totally addicted to) , toys, photography blogs, random shapes, food, ethnicity, music, seasons, art and interior books, second hand stores, shapes in nature.
What have you made recently?
I started making hand cut feather fabric necklaces and earrings, small leather stuffed bird skull pendants which I hand painted on.
I also discovered that shimmery fabric paint comes out so much nicer on the back of leather then the front.
I started asking everyone to collect their old leather clothes that they don't wear anymore by promising to thank them with a handmade piece from that item.
...and I finally found a purpose to the shells I've been collecting from beaches over the years.
Where do you sell your crafts presently?
right now on Etsy, but am planning on opening my own online store, and hopefully try with a few boutiques starting in montreal until I take over the world.
Why are handmade crafts important to you?
because it's usually one of a kind, and even if there are more of the same, they're always a bit different.
There's more heart and care into the process than mass production.
it makes me happy
