Vivid Hand Painted Silk Neckties

in Accessories, Featured Crafters, Handmade on 22/05/13

Zane shows us awesome hand painted neckties and bowties – just in time for Father’s Day!! What I love most about these ties are the varieties in color and style. Keep up the great work 🙂

Random Facts About You?

I wish to be a cool grandma after 60 years and drive a motorbike at 80.
I love cherries and the color purple
I love to buy plants but they all die soon
I wish I had time enough to paint, to draw, to read, to sew, to write and to live

What got you started crafting?

I love to watch how silk colors flow on silk fabric so much that I decided to do something with this. I got an idea to make a gift for my father's birthday - hand painted silk neck tie. Since then, all men in my family have at least one hand painted neck tie. Silk painting is my hobby and I can't imagine myself without it...

What is your source of inspiration?

Inspiration always has some other background. Usually it is good music and some great event or trip. I have tried to paint while feeling bad, but it turned out not well, so I am painting only in a good mood.

What have you made recently?

Recently I made a light blue necktie with bubbles. Those are stylized stones or pebbles. This color came in my mind because it is so fresh, I call it "when snow melts in a mountain stream at spring". So I used only one color and black outlines to accent this purity.
This spring comes with new colors in my stock and this was the first inspiration I got. I really like this emerald and turquoise mix. I am sure to use it this spring more times, because emerald is the top color for 2013!

Where do you sell your crafts presently?

I sell my neck ties only on Etsy, even haven't tried other ways.

Why are handmade crafts important to you?

I have searched for good neckties many times but I have never found at least one good looking tie. Each time I conclude that I need to make a tie by myself if I want a tie how I imagine it. One more important detail - manufactured ties from shops are so not personal! Those are just some stock-accessory and nothing more. A hand painted tie is already valued! An artist has put his soul inside of it. This tie has soul since the moment when an artist took silk and colors at his hands.
I prefer things with a soul and a story. I prefer to see an artists name written on a tie, not for seeing some famous brand, but to see that it is made by a real person and this person's feelings.
