My source for inspiration is my life as a mom and other moms/dads. It is tough enough being a parent so I try to create products that are useful and appealing to the eye.

What got you started crafting?
onthefray is a labor of love. I am a lucky stay-at-home mom who LOVES to sew. It all began as a hobby. I would make a baby shower gift (of course with lots of love and care) for a friend or a friend of a friend. Over the years it has blossomed into a passion. Many wonderful friends have helped me along the way and gave me the confidence, critiqued my work and nudged me to take the leap into selling my labor of love!
What is your source of inspiration?
My source for inspiration is my life as a mom and other moms/dads. It is tough enough being a parent so I try to create products that are useful and appealing to the eye.
What have you made recently?
I recently started making "I Spy Bags" using oil cloth (laminated cotton). The inspiration was my son. He is a very precocious toddler that likes to touch everything. I call him my "tactile learner". In situations where you can't touch everything, the "I Spy Bag" is the perfect solution. When considering the materials to use, I knew I wanted to use a durable material that could easily be sanitized but was also not harmful (i.e. BPA free, PVC free, etc) to children. And voila...in came the laminated cotton.
Where do you sell your crafts presently?
I sell my crafts on Etsy.com and a local DC area children's boutique.
Why are handmade crafts important to you?
When you buy handmade you are supporting a mom, dad, child, family, extended family, etc. Handmade has someone's love put into it that's what makes it so special and separates it from the other products in the marketplace.
