As cheesy as it sounds, my original and continuing inspiration is my daughter, Holly. I hope that as she gets older I will be able to share my love of crafting with her and we will create new things together.
Lisa Hodson
I am from the UK and in the last 18 months have lived in New York and California.
I have a crazy Jack Russell Terrier named Jasper, who has flown around the world with me and my husband as we have moved from coast to coast.
My daughter is dual-nationality, with both British and American passports.
I am originally from Leeds, in the north of the UK.
I have an uncomfortable addiction to trashy TV, with my current favourite being 'My Big Fat Gypsy Wedding' - all the way from the shores of the UK (although I must say not a great representation of my home country)!
What got you started crafting?
I studied Art and Textiles at school however never followed through with it when I left. It was only when I fell pregnant and began creating thing for my daughter's nursery that I fell back in love with my creative past.
What is your source of inspiration?
As cheesy as it sounds, my original and continuing inspiration is my daughter, Holly. I hope that as she gets older I will be able to share my love of crafting with her and we will create new things together.
What have you made recently?
My most recent project is a photo cube for my daughter's nursery. My husband had some photos taken of himself and my daughter for Mother's Day in a photo booth, and as they are passport photo size I struggled to find a frame that would fit them. As I was searching one day on Etsy I came across a couple of sellers who had created photo cubes and I thought it was something I would love to have a try creating myself. That way I could create exactly the look I wanted and match it to the colors of my daughter's nursery. Using vintage-looking fabric roses, my new found favourite method of inking scrapbook paper as well as my well-used acrylics I have created a vintage-feel rotating cube that holds my cherished gift and sits pride of place in my daughter's nursery.
Where do you sell your crafts presently?
I sell my crafts on Etsy however, as we are due to relocate back to the UK in a month, my Etsy shop is temporarily closed. However I regularly update my blog where I feature other people's fabulous crafts!
Why are handmade crafts important to you?
I love creating customized pieces that are made to match a decor or style and that are one of a kind. As much as I love shopping, I also love filling my home with creations that you won't find in the nearest Pottery Barn. That is the beauty of handmade products. I also love the handmade community I have discovered and have made many friends along my journey through this fascinating world of artisans.
