Inspiration is something I don’t really believe much at all. I have references, like painters and designers but most of all, any random image on a magazine or real life can be the source of some drawings I’ve done. Anything can be pretty much inspiring to me.
Ariana Couvinha

I'm an art teacher, painter and illustrator living in Lisbon, Portugal.
I love art, design, books, cats, dogs, coffee, vintage, plants, waterfalls, horror movies, musicals, blogs, boats and trains, food, jarvis cocker and sketchbooks.
What got you started crafting?
I'm not sure i can call it crafting!
First of all I'm a painter and that's what made me choose to study Fine Arts.
I remember once when I was very young looking at an image on a magazine of a Surgery Room and I wanted to draw that, will all the details and I've found I couldn't. Thing is, at the time i really thought I could draw that. I remember this sometimes although I can't say that was what made me start drawing, my father and grandfather are painters and I'm familiar with the process since I can remember.
The illustrations came after my University Degree, it's something I really like to do and if people like it too, awesome!
What is your source of inspiration?
Well, it's difficult to say. Inspiration is something I don't really believe much at all. I have references, like painters and designers but most of all, any random image on a magazine or real life can be the source of some drawings I've done. Anything can be pretty much inspiring to me.
What have you made recently?
Hum... The 2011 calendar was a nice piece considering the process. Most of the time I have a reference and just draw. The calendar was fun to make, I choose a few illustrations I had done and when I had the idea of the calendar i started drawing the month by hand looking at the calendar and thinking...Wait ... am I in the wrong month? Ok I am...let's start all over again!
But i think the result is pretty simple and nice.
Where do you sell your crafts presently?
I sell on Etsy, Artfire and Society6.
Why are handmade crafts important to you?
Well I do buy things out there in the marketplace but handmade is unique and most of all it's rare.
I love when I bye something on etsy and the package arrives: awwww...handmade package handwritten and handmade! I really appreciate the effort. It's like I'm receiving a gift!
