Best bagels in the world?! I’ve never been to Montreal, but I think I now have a compelling reason to visit…
I really love tiny things- tiny tea sets, tiny dolls, tiny furniture, tiny beads
I have been a vegetarian since I was 6 years old, because my friends told me hot dogs are made of horse meat and 18 years later I'm still grossed out!
My cat is named after Jazz Sax player Sonny Rollins
I live in Montreal, home of the best bagels in the world
What got you started crafting?
I have been arting & crafting since I was child! I started beading when I was 14 years old when I saw Aboriginal beading embroidery and just had to learn how to do that. Ever since then I have been experimenting with this medium and trying to sell my wears. This just lead me to wear I am now, a Fine Arts Graduate from the University of Manitoba, Canada, and peddling my craft to whoever will give me the time!
What is your source of inspiration?
I get alot of inspiration from other artists, from musicians and people who are alot smarter than I am.
I also get inspiration from the objects themselves, that sometimes have their own agenda!
What have you made recently?
Recently I have been making alot of earrings! My favorites are made of pink seed beads, with pink pearls and suede. They are made using beading embroidery techniques and every bead is stitched on by hand, giving them their own personality, even if I make two of the same design, really they are never the same!
Where do you sell your crafts presently?
My name is Shoshana Coodin Bernstein and I am a Montreal based beading embroidery artist about to launch an online gift shop called Pinwheel Galaxy Art Shop. It goes live September 1st and we’re in the process of getting the word out about it. I have started a blog and Facebook page to get the interest started and am looking to other bloggers to help me spread the word!
Why are handmade crafts important to you?
Handmade has more soul!
