I love the character of handmade. I love knowing that someone really put heart and soul into creating the final product; it’s just so much more special than buying from a machine with no heart. : )
Laura Johnston
1. I am a classically trained saxophonist (alto & soprano).
2. I'm one of those rare females who generally prefers vanilla over chocolate.
3. I made up my own secret written language in high school that I used in my journals.
4. My first flight was 5 years ago, and in those 5 years I've happily explored over 20 new places.
What got you started crafting?
I've always been artistic, but my recent artistic endeavors with le animalé started by just hanging out with a couple of friends making funny animals and monsters out of clay. One day it hit me to try starting a new shop on Etsy dedicated to animals, where I could sell these little clay creations and other fun gifts.
What is your source of inspiration?
Animals, quotes, and exploring new places. My inspiration comes from many places, so that's the nutshell version. I try to take all of my inspiration and roll it into a neat little package that will hopefully inspire someone else and keep the chain going.
What have you made recently?
I recently started making a line of totems with gemstone embellishments. My animal totems all have specific energies that their owners can channel, and mixing those with the energies of different gemstones makes for a stronger totem.
Where do you sell your crafts presently?
Right now my items are sold only on Etsy.
Why are handmade crafts important to you?
I love the character of handmade. I love knowing that someone really put heart and soul into creating the final product; it's just so much more special than buying from a machine with no heart. : )
