What got you started crafting?
We started making bulletin boards for ourselves to put in our apartment, but we loved how they turned out so much we decided maybe we could sell a few to help earn funds to go to Europe.
What is your source of inspiration?
We are inspired by each-other and the antique frames we find often inspire us with what we want to do with them,
What have you made recently?
We are currently in the process of making this large bulletin board with a gorgeous embellished antique frame. First we found the frame at a local garage sale where the previous owner told us how his great-grandparents had originally used it to frame their own paintings, the story was so heartfelt we knew we had to make it into something special. So the second step was to take it home, wash it up and prep the surface for painting by sanding delicately. Then we started by spray painting it black, letting it dry and then we did a silver wash of paint to bring out the details. Once the frames done we cut a piece of cork board to fir and spray painted it black. When it's dry we mounted it to a piece of foam board for extra support and stretched a piece of black lace over it for texture. Then all there is to do it mount it onto the frame it self and finish the back in the classic picture style with brown paper. This peice is particularly special because of the back story of the frame and how all the added work to it made it truly a beautiful piece to add to ones home.
Where do you sell your crafts presently?
We currently are looking at selling in some local boutiques and we have an etsy store for most of our sales.
Why are handmade crafts important to you?
Because it's personal. We love to create something new every time, none of our work is repeated, every piece is one of a kind.
