I am a gemini (last I checked). I went to school to become a famous publicist but after a few years of great fun in the wildness which is the record business (with the likes of Cheap Trick, Skid Row, Debbie Gibson, Marc Anthony etc.) I gave it up to move West to Portland, Oregon where I could again have a driveway and be a regular person. I now do marketing for a local non profit which provides excellent prevention, mental health and addiction services. I have two kids, two dogs a cat and a husband. I would really love to play on Etsy and sell my photos all day long.
1) I used to work in the record business in New York City... have got some stories :-)
2) Now do non-profit marketing when I'm not taking pictures
3) Am capturing my year in a daily photo blog
4) Now know how to knit and crochet, considering experimenting in fleece.
What got you started crafting?
Needed a creative outlet other than parenting!
What is your source of inspiration?
My inspiration besides loving my camera and the process is that there is beauty everywhere if we just see it or look for it. It is sort of like looking for the positive rather than just seeing the negative.
What have you made recently?
I absolutely love crocheting these organic cotton scarves. My mother purchased one and I have another friend coveting one who hasn't purchased yet. I have another beautiful green and blue I need to post on the shop but honestly I have a hard time not keeping them for myself. I really want to try making them with Pandora type beads...
Where do you sell your crafts presently?
Right now I really just sell my photos, cards and other goodies on Etsy here. I will probably branch out as time and money allows. Trying to push myself out of my comfort zone.
Why are handmade crafts important to you?
I love taking photos. I think more people need to send cards and letters and things not via email (although I do love my email and IM and such) and if I can turn my photos into something that will bring a little joy in the mail that makes me happy. Plus there is the whole idea that bigger is not better. Bigger corporations vs. small mom & pops, international vs. local. I try to buy local and small whenever I can. Etsy is helpful for doing that.
