1. I also love to knit.
2. I'm new to all of this, the selling, blogs, promoting, etc.. for until now i just designed for friends and family.
3. My designs are always make with the inspiraton of making a woman feel confident, beautiful, and chic.
4. By trade i'm actually a geek, I'm a QA manager in the software industry. Unfortunately, I was recently laid off and have had a hard time finding employment in this economy. This led to my having way too much extra time on my hands thus being inspired daily to make more pieces of jewelry and knits.
What got you started crafting?
I was at a very bad place in my life. A friend of mine was a successful jewelry maker. She suggested I do something like that to at least get my mind of things for a bit. I didn't know what to do so I asked her to teach me. She did and the rest is history.
I started to knit, crochet, and make jewelry. It honestly saved my life for I was in a very bad place and with these crafts I was able to keep my mind focused elsewhere. It worked. The biggest surprise to me was that people were complimenting me and my friends who wore my items left and right. I started realizing maybe I'm actually good at this. It was a huge surprise to me for I was never an arts/creative person. Or so I thought. I always wanted to be but never had the confidence to try.
What is your source of inspiration?
Beautiful woman, romance, love, the weather... I can draw inspiration practically from anywhere... it just comes.
What have you made recently?
The last item I made was actually a refurbished item. It was a multi chain necklace with pearls and pendant. This necklace was quite old, it was one of the items I made when I was still learning. I decided to refurbish it for it wasn't made as well as I would've made it today with all the experience I now have.
After I refurbished it I put it on Etsy. What I did was remove all the pearls for I originally connected the pearls to the chain using eye pins which made it look a bit tacky. Then I added little bows to the smaller chain instead of handcuff looking things. Just the overall look didn't look delicate like I originally inspired it to and wasn't up to par. At the end I left the pearls out but added to smaller flower looking pendants in addition to the big heart silver pendant it already had. (You can see the end result on etsy listing# 62700399)
Where do you sell your crafts presently?
I currently only sell on Etsy.
Why are handmade crafts important to you?
I think there's so much talent out there that's not as known in the marketplace that I like to support. And I find that handmade items are more special and/or sentimental. I like supporting this community.
