What got you started crafting?
Besides my mom and grandmother, I always wanted to see my hand drawings come to life. When I was younger I wanted to be an animator, but later found out fashion design was WAY better!
What is your source of inspiration?
Anything and everything. You shouldn't limit yourself when it comes to inspiration, because you never know what might get your creative gears turning. I'm a fan of found objects and mashing things up; two totally different things coming together to create something new and exciting.
What have you made recently?
Pumpkin Jars for Halloween made from old glass food jars. A craft I found in Martha Stewart's Halloween handbook for this year - conveniently the same weekend I decided to clean out our fridge. Reduce reuse recycle!
I washed and removed the labels, then squirted orange paint inside and rolled it around until it was completely covered and poured out the extra paint to do the next jar. After that dried I hand painted faces onto each one giving them their on personalities. Next I added a handle from black wire that I wrapped around the rim of the jar and for a finishing touch added green wire I wrapped around a pencil with a leaf bead to create a cute little vine.
I'm gonna fill them with candy and gift them to co-workers and neighbors!
Where do you sell your crafts presently?
I sell through ETSY. I do a few shows a year around New England, and sometimes at my boyfriend's hair salon. I host private trunk shows and invite friends, family and past customers to shop before the masses.
Why are handmade crafts important to you?
I love seeing my ideas come to life before me. I also love the problem solving aspect of it all, and, of course, bringing joy to others!
