I love anything from the Dada area, French words, Objets Trouvés and Joseph Beuys.
Eve Damon
Hate the limelight - but love standing next to it or behind it.
I loose myself when I forget to create.
I have a passion for origami but never learned it.
I will wear couture gowns on the A train not a problem.
What got you started crafting?
I always need a statement piece around me and on me, it can be in my house, something I wear or a cute toy.
When I was a young girl I wore an American Indian costume for halloween - I loved it so much that I thought of ways to get that feeling everyday through accessories I made and tokens I carried.
What is your source of inspiration?
I love anything from the Dada area, French words, Objets Trouvés and Joseph Beuys.
What have you made recently?
I just came out with my tea dyed cotton bags.
The large bowl with the sweet smell of tea is lush and I enjoy checking the color every so often while it is sitting in it.
I love the fact that after the wash they stay wrinkly and cannot iron out smooth.
I think of each design I paint on them for days before I actually do it - it's a one shoot deal, the word has to be just right as well as the look of it. It is written in my handwriting so it is unique every time I design one, like a signature on each bag.
Where do you sell your crafts presently?
I have sold my creations ever since I was in school.
I sell varying themes of objects for a limited time on my web-site.
I just opened a shop on Etsy where I sell my bags.
Why are handmade crafts important to you?
It is the most valuable - something I will rescue from a burning house - take with me when I move and will remember for the rest of my life.
