Nature. Plants and animals inspire me to no end. I also love architecture but my drawing and crafting tends to be more fluid and imaginative.
Alyssa Littlestone
I'm a nature lover and a craft enthusiast. I have a large imagination and plenty of ambition. I am indecisive. I hate uncooked celery and I'm obsessed with Martha [Stewart].
What got you started crafting?
My mom. My mom is an amazing artist and she did nothing but encourage, inspire and nurture everything creative in me. She's the best.
What is your source of inspiration?
Nature. Plants and animals inspire me to no end. I also love architecture but my drawing and crafting tends to be more fluid and imaginative.
What have you made recently?
I recently created my baby panda holding bamboo cards. I was inspired after a visit to the National Zoo in DC. Pandas are their most popular attraction, and once you watch a panda - doing almost anything - you'll understand. They're mesmerizing.
I bagan by sketching out a panda and coloring in the dark areas. I then decided to cut out the dark areas of the image and use the sketch as a stencil to lay glue down on the card that would attract the onyx glass microspheres i sprinkled over it. After letting the glue dry I then used ink to fill in the lines of the panda and I used watercolor to paint in bamboo.
Where do you sell your crafts presently?
Until recently I always gifted my art. After years of having my family and friends ask for art and cards to give to their friends and family I decided to open up an etsy shop - Throught Through Design. I hope in the future to sell in local stores and at craft fairs.
Why are handmade crafts important to you?
Handmade products are amazing and they support people that are doing what they love.
