My work is synonymous with contemporary crochet: handmade vintage chic cotton sun hats, organic tote bags, decorative gift boxes one of a kind keepsakes. Upcycled stationary twine is repurposed to create the handmade vintage chic objects. Natural, organic, high quality & practically useful these objects are designed with the utmost attention to detail. Handmade with love & leaving a light footprint on our planet, the human touch makes each product precious to indulge. Custom orders are welcome.

My daughter is my mantra.
I love all things beautiful.
Despite my mother’s best efforts it took me thirty years to master the art of crochet.
I am a fragile purple - somewhere between red and blue.
Crochet is my active meditation.
What got you started crafting?
My mother. Her hands were always crafting in one way or another and her toys brought joy to the heart of many a toddler. But I now understand that it goes much deeper than mere example. It is like breathing. I have to create.
What is your source of inspiration?
I am inspired by the process of creating and glimpses of everyday life.
What have you made recently?
I am busy with an exhibition piece. A basket bag. And I love the fact that I am unrestrained - that price is no longer the guiding or limiting factor in my work.
This bag will be submitted to tour South Africa in 2011 with 99 other pieces as part of the Cape Craft & Design Institute's Handmade Collection.
My creation process is very much organic. I start with a stitch and a selection of twines and through each stitch the object is revealed. It will inevitably be vintage inspired with some retro floral embellishment. Unique and limited edition are other recurrent themes in my work.
Where do you sell your crafts presently?
Currently only on Etsy.
Why are handmade crafts important to you?
A Portuguese Proverb has it that what is bought is cheaper than a gift. As far as I am concerned Handmade is the only way to adorn or be adorned. Each hand crafted object embodies the spirit of both the maker and the techniques used to make it. It is a talisman of creativity for the giver and the receiver.
