I remember watching my grandmother crochet, since she lived too far from where we were living, my mom asked one of our adorable neighbors to teach me & she agreed. I first learned how to crochet & then knit when I was 9 years old and eventually made my first dish cloth which I gave to my mom. I also love to sew and eventually I would like to learn how to quilt. I just love to create and find it so relaxing.

I have 6 children & can't wait to be a grandma so I can make them all cute things to wear! I sing when I drive. I admire my grandmother who was always sewing or knitting something wonderful for her large family and always found a way to cook meals everyone loved to eat. My favorite quote is from Dr. Seuss - "A person's a person no matter how small."

What is your source of inspiration?
I get most of my inspiration from my 6 silly kids, they love to give me their opinions. "Mom, use this color...no use this...make it longer, put these colors on top." I love hearing their input, it helps bring out my own imagination, something we adults tend to loose with age. They are part of my creative team.
What have you made recently?
My new funky hat will be coming out by the end of February, my children choose most of the colors and types of yarn used to make it. I'm so excited to be sharing it with others and hope everyone loves it as much as we do. It will be the perfect celebration hat for any special occasion.
Where do you sell your crafts presently?
I've been making items for family, friends for many, many years and just started selling to the public about 7 years ago through local baby groups, professional photographers, Etsy (Pixie Props), Ebay and my own website (Blue Zoo Baby Boutique). I hope to venture out into the world of craft fairs when my youngest (who's almost 2), is a bit older.
Why are handmade crafts important to you?
Handmade items are made with love and attention to detail. Each item the artisan makes took some careful planning, they had to write out the details and decide on it's size, color and the materials used. Time is set aside to construct something they would give to someone close to them. The crafts-person makes it because they love to create, it is their career and usually a way to work from home. Handmade items come from the heart.
