What got you started crafting?
My mother taught me how to sew when I was 12 and I've been designing and sewing ever since.
What is your source of inspiration?
Nature! I love natural fabrics and the colours you find in nature - trees, sand, rocks, the beach, flowers.
What have you made recently?
The latest item I've listed is a linen pillow with a beautiful floral print. I was inspired when I found the fabric. It is printed with vegetable dyes and looks and feels very natural and soft. I made large pillow covers that would provide a real focal point on a bed. The colours are very popular right now - greys and browns.
Where do you sell your crafts presently?
I sell my designs online through etsy, zibbet, artfire, icraft and cargoh.
Why are handmade crafts important to you?
I hand make all my items because I am tired of buying products that shrink or fall apart after one wash. I wanted to provide products that will last, are classic, and are made from natural and organic fabrics, in Canada. The more I find out about all the pesticides and chemical fertilizers that go into growing conventional cotton, the more I advocate the use of organic cotton. My other favorite fabric is hemp. It is the strongest fibre known, it is UV resistant, mold and mildew resistant, and can be grown in any soil without fertilizers and very little water.
