What got you started crafting?
I've been crafting for as long as I can remember. I suppose it stemmed from being bored at home when I was young. I started making jewelry when I was around twelve. The rest, is history.
What is your source of inspiration?
I'm inspired by everything around me. Nature lends me much inspiration. Architecture also leads to some inspiring pieces.
What have you made recently?
I recently made a set featuring turtle charms. I love turtles because of the symbolism they carry. When I use charms or other pieces, I try to look for the meaning behind it. Turtles are creatures of two elements: land and sea. Because of this, a turtle is able to adapt and flourish in any given environment. By wearing a piece of jewelry with a turtle charm, you are reminding yourself to take the patience to admire life. I want to make my jewelry with meaning.
Where do you sell your crafts presently?
I sell my jewelry at local fairs as well as home parties. I just recently began selling online.
Why are handmade crafts important to you?
I love buying handmade because items are always unique. When something is handmade, no two products are exactly the same. By buying handmade, you are supporting an artist directly. To make a handcrafted jewelry piece takes a lot of planning, patience and talent. These essential elements are what make the artisans handcrafted jewelry different from the manufactured ones. Handmade pieces are the reflection of the designer.
