Nature and practicality. The great outdoors inspire and enrich my soul with the beauty and majesty of it all. And practicality is my middle name – so I love to find practical ways to use things. So here the two get married together in a great partnership.
I love nature and especially sea life. I study pictures and watch lots of nature shows and visit the Zoo and Aquarium to get ideas. Some time ideas seam to just come out of the blue. One idea always leads to others. I love it!
Living in a seaside town and the local’s love/hate relationship with seagulls! Also, scary films inspire me because of the way they use fear and humour.
I try to buy most gifts from the artist or maker as much as possible. I try to either buy locally or online directly from the maker when I can. It’s such a wonderful sub-economy, and so much more meaningful that way. Not to mention the incredible variety that is just not available in the mass market commercial world.
My mom taught me how to knit when I was in highschool. I can still remember the first patch of knitting I did, it was very bad! But with years of practice I can know knit a scarf in 24 hours and can do it without looking!
I hope I could reflect my imagination and feelings to other people who feel the same… sometimes we need to see it in other peoples art or design.
When I purchase a handmade item, I am purchasing a little piece of its creator. I am purchasing the passion that the artist has for his or her work. I am purchasing a slice of their vision. And I am supporting their brave decision to dream big and believe in their art.
