I like coffee in the morning and tea in the afternoon. I recently traveled to England to meet my new family there. I am a single mom to five children ages two to eight. I would rather see a sunrise than a sunset.

What got you started crafting?
I think I've been crafting since I was born. I remember stealing pieces of my dad's drywall from his shop and cutting them into landscape scenes then painting them. In high school I took classes in photography, pottery and drawing. Crafting and art has always been a part of my life and I cannot imagine living without it.
What is your source of inspiration?
I'm inspired by all kinds of things. You can see the influence of the past in my work as I absolutely adore history and anything vintage. I'm definitely inspired by nature and the beauty that grows wild all over our world. Literature and music inspire me greatly. This one may sound silly, but cooking really inspires me. I love to cook and I often get ideas from the different colors and textures in the foods I'm working with.
All of my work has a very bohemian, country, indie feel to it. My inspirations lead to work that is slightly off beat and free spirited, very much like me.
What have you made recently?
I've really become addicted to wire lately and a lot of my latest projects feature wire wrapping. One in particular is the necklace shown above. The ceramic beads just called my name with the beautiful blue glaze and I'm particularly drawn to blue with copper. I wanted the copper wire to stand out so I hung the wire wrapped beads from a silver chain, allowing the blue and copper to pop. I did run into a bit of trouble when the holes in the beads were just too large and I couldn't quite get the loops big enough to keep the beads in place. A pair of denim blue crystal beads sandwiching the ceramic ones did the trick and added a bit of sparkle to the piece. Winning!
Where do you sell your crafts presently?
I sell my crafts online through Etsy and I also sell at local markets, craft fairs and bazaars. I love selling in both venues but in person is my favorite because I love getting to interact with my customers. Online is simpler though because I don't have to lug all my creations out, set up, sit all day, tear down, etc. Still, there's something about seeing the smile on a person's face as they try on a necklace I designed and made. To me, that's what handmade is all about - touching someone else with my creation.
Why are handmade crafts important to you?
Handmade to me is so special. It means a piece with soul, with heart. When you buy handmade, you don't put money into a corporation, you put it towards a meal for a child, gas for a dad's truck or diapers for a baby. When you wear a hat made by me, the same hands that painstakingly created each stitch are the same hands that chop carrots and potatoes for soup, wipe the tears from my children's eyes and scrub the bathtub.
Every handmade item has a story because the person who made it has a story. It's these stories and the soul and spirit inside them that makes handmade so special, so beautiful.
