Random Facts About You?

I have literally designed clothing since I was in grade 3 - oh to think how my drawing has changed!

My dogs name is Trinity and our first born was going to be Neo if we had a boy - we didn't, it was a girl (Mackenzie - name meaning Daughter of a great Ruler - guess who picked the name?!)

Seriously afraid of heights.

I can't wait to be successful enough with my felting and designing that I can have a team of my family working with me - mostly my 2 daughters, my mom and my sister-in-law Katie (when they move back from Australia hint hint).

What got you started crafting?

I have always had very individual taste (ask anyone I went to school with). The question most often in my mind is - What are you wearing? My tastes have tamed down quite a bit now, but my craft has not. I have always sewn, but after learning how to felt from a great friend I was hooked, and I enjoy taking the felt and designing new ideas around it.

What is your source of inspiration?

Everything and everyone that surrounds me.

What have you made recently?

In creating my fall/winter collection I started creating tunic dresses that I will be adding to my fall/winter 2011 collection; I am experimenting more with full clothing rather that just accessories.

To me this is a big step and full of excitement, the inspiration is to push through the boundaries of felting being a craft and more being a part of cutting edge fashion.

Where do you sell your crafts presently?

I sell in several art galleries in Canada and USA. As well as boutiques and retail shops.
Online I am on Trunkt for my wholesale customers and on Big Cartel for my retail clients.
I am in the midst of a huge amalgamation of having just one website to go to and starting it as a blog homepage.

Why are handmade crafts important to you?

I choose to do a Handmade Christmas last year and it rocked! I actually mainly traded my designs for all my x-mas gifts, which is even cooler because it was reminiscent of yester-years when you had to have actual skills to get you by in life using the trade and barter system.
