I am a working artist living in Grand Rapids, Mi. I love to play, learn and share! My mind never rests so I am always off to the next project. I guess a jack of all trades and master of none. I am ok with that, because I have so much fun. I gather information from my daily tasks, travels, and magazines I take it back to my sketchbook and it awaits me for the next big composition or project.
What got you started crafting?
I love the idea of recycling and upcycling, due to the fact that we have so much STUFF laying around the house. I started out by painting in college and always incorporated mixed media in my work. I love the fact that you can make something out of nothing. I always try to push myself by using stuff around the house including plastic bags, fabric, metal, paper etc...
What is your source of inspiration?
All things old tattered and torn that are laying in a pile somewhere waiting for me.
What have you made recently?
I have recycled an old vintage chain by adding a new clasp, mixed in some new chain and then dismantled a necklace from goodwill that had these amazing metal flowers, soldered them together, and added some bling. I absolutely love my new piece and will wear it lovingly or sell it!
Where do you sell your crafts presently?
I sell in galleries, boutiques and online.
Why are handmade crafts important to you?
Isn't it always fun to wear that piece or look at that painting that is unique. I want to express myself and not conform to the cookie cutter syndrome. I want something that no one else has, love to use it as a conversation to send a message, such as reuse. I want people to use what you have and change it up a bit, it doesn't always need to be NEW!!
