Repurposed Handmade Vintage Button Jewelry

in Featured Crafters, Jewelry on 27/06/10

Hey Cary Ann!

Thanks for submitting your amazing, unique and hand made button jewlery! Your appreciation for the intricacies of the simpler things in life, shines through in the beautiful ways you show off these often-overlooked blouse accessories. I will never look at a button the same way again.

Random Facts About You?

~ My name is Cary Lopiccolo and I live in Phoenix, AZ.  I am a nurse by trade, and have been making beaded/button jewelry  for over 20 years. My father was a professional silversmith jeweler,  so jewelry has always been a part of my life.

My store is called 'Heycaryann", because I was named after The  Hollies song( yes, I had hippie parents..). I repurpose vintage  buttons into groovy jewelry! I search dusty thrift stores, estate  sales, friends' attics and onlne for just the perfect buttons for my  jewelry.

Every piece is one-of-a-kind and completely unique. I use high  quality sterling silver  adjustable rings and earrings to attach to  the vintage buttons. They are colorful, fun and simple, making them  easy to wear with any outfit. I am influenced by old fairy tales,  Alice in Wonderland, Little Nemo in Slumberland and candy for the  colors and names of my products. The banner to my store is all made  out of candy and buttons!

I make rings, earrings and bracelets. They are all very affordable,  ranging in price from $25-5 each. I sell them locally in four  vintage boutiques here in Phoenix and also on my Etsy store.

Please  let your readers know about Heycaryann, because I think its  very original and fun jewelry and no girl has too much jewelry!

Thank you for your time and feel free to contact me if you have any  additional questions.

Sincerely,
Cary

Fairy tales, candy, Alice in Wonderland, Little Nemo in Slumberland comics & nature.

I recently made some rings out of the most beautiful Czech glass vintage buttons.

Where do you sell your crafts presently?

On Etsy and locally in four vintage boutiques in Phoenix.

Why are handmade crafts important to you?

I have always been inspired by buttons. They seem so ordinary until you look closer at them and realize how each one is so different. There's something simple and clean about buttons. There are a million different kinds, sizes, colors and so I never get bored!
Buttons have a childlike innocence about them and make people squeal when they realize the jewelry is made from them.
