Everything I make is designed and constructed by me. I love to figure out the sequence of steps and processes to a finished piece.
Amy Volchok
1. I have been an artist for as long as I can remember.
2. I get many good (& one or two not so good) ideas in the middle of the night.
3. I'm fairly sure I'd be just as content being a photographer.
4. I have a blog that I haven't updated probably in about 2 years.
What got you started crafting?
I have no idea how or why I started, there just was never any question of doing anything else, ever!
What is your source of inspiration?
Pretty much just looking around everyday and seeing the designs and patterns that the world makes.
What have you made recently?
Very recently I started making copper buttons. A friend of mine who is a felter kept urging me to do it and so I did. I get pre cut discs, drill the holes and heat treat them and then give them an enamel finish. Or I cut the shape myself and solder a shank to the back for a different kind of button. These are really fun to make.
Where do you sell your crafts presently?
I sell mainly on Etsy, but I also sell to retailers mostly in the northeast. I also have an Artfire shop.
Why are handmade crafts important to you?
Because there absolutely is no other way on earth to do it!
