The little things, like how small flower petals on the sidewalk are a world of details and dots of color when you take the time to look upclose. Intricacy in Simplicity is what I carry from that.

I love all things breakfast related.
Worked as a costume designer for 8 years.
I am a plant nerd, even to the point of talking to plants while in garden centers.
Has a cat named Marie, who is crazy, spunky, wonderful cat that likes to sing along with whats on the radio.
What got you started crafting?
My Grandmother and my Mother. Both of them are very handy women and from a very young age I was around sewing and general craftiness. I love creating, and am always doing it, even if its just turning a paper menu into an origami balloon or transforming plain silk and beads into a blossom for a bride.
What is your source of inspiration?
The little things, like how small flower petals on the sidewalk are a world of details and dots of color when you take the time to look upclose. Intricacy in Simplicity is what I carry from that.
What have you made recently?
I recently produced the Sky Blossoms Bridal Hair Comb. It is modeled after my favorite flower, the Blue Himalayan Poppy. My first steps involved creating a pattern for the petals, dying the Crepe De Chine silk the right shade of blue-green to match the actual flower, then finally cutting the petals out and shaping them with a millinery iron. With tiny glass beads I created the flower centeres, and also used some gold drop beads to decorate the Venise Lace foliage. After assembly I let the piece " rest" and waited to see if I needed to make any last changes or improvements.
I take extreme care when creating my items. Though some of them are made to order designs that are copied, I treat all of them like they are one of a kind pieces and try my best to go " the extra mile" with each one. Even when I am about to go cross-eyed from beading for long periods of time, I will not set a piece down if I do not think it is in my mind at least..finished and " right".
The Sky Blossoms Fascinator to me is a refreshing non-traditional design. I like the idea of breaking out of the social wedding norms.
Where do you sell your crafts presently?
Currently my items are for sale on Etsy.
Why are handmade crafts important to you?
I can not think of doing anythings else. There is such a high from buying something completely created from scratch. Something that you know is unique but also sturdy and well made, that will last because as with most " makers" there is not only the sale on the line, but pride too.
