What got you started crafting?
I always wear pearls with my outfits and I wanted some simple accessories that matched such expensive necklaces. I moved from selling jewelry to hair accessories to more accurately depict my interest in science and fabric design.
What is your source of inspiration?
The images from the Hubble Telescope, Stars, Weather, Art Deco style Vintage, old sewing patterns, and thrift store fabrics
What have you made recently?
I've started making resin hair accessories using images from the Hubble Telescope. I chose the Hubble because I wanted to accurately depict the true beauty of stars. Typically I search for an amazing image, I alter it to get the desired color I'm looking for, and then print fabric using the image. From there I cover the fabric using a few layers of glue and resin and then attach it to a hair pin, clip, or comb. I ship these accessories in handmade envelopes made from old physics books and include a handwritten note in every shipment.
Where do you sell your crafts presently?
I sell my crafts online in my store, and on Etsy. I also sell them at craft fairs and at vintage consignment store.
Why are handmade crafts important to you?
Handmade means I just saved one child from working longer hours in a factory. It means I helped reduce pollution. It means I supported an individual who is trying to make an honest living doing something they love.
