Easy-personality. While my house may look like a fridge covered in a kindergarten kids drawings, I like that everything that defines the decor of my house is mine, its one of kind, and I love the my daughter walks around and says, “mommy did it-pretty”.
I am a college soccer coaches wife-enuf said.
I am obsessed with photography of my girls.
I am currently working on music education with both my daughters-Ben Harper, the Beatles, Michael Franit and the Rolling Stones just to name a few of their favorites.
After 7 years of trying to conceive, thousands of dollars of treatment, surgeries and drugs, and several doctors telling us we couldn't have children - I had both my girls naturally, without trying!
What got you started crafting?
My need to be creative. I am always thinking of new projects and new ways to be creative as well as functional for either my girls room or gifts for family. Having children had an effect on what I create, but it all still comes from the same place.
What is your source of inspiration?
Easy, my girls. Not sure if having boys would have had the same effect, but I am attracted to anything pretty with a funky, artsy sensibility.
What have you made recently?
My latest piece is a height measuring piece for Ryan and Leah. It is a painting on 46" X 24" canvas. Ryan loves it! I wanted a way to measure how tall the girls were getting, but wanted something a bit more creative than the usual "write on the wall" or cutesy animal paper things you see in stores.
I started by painting the color angular lines on either side of a yellow center line. Once all the paint was completed, I added oraange yarn down either side of the center line. Then I measured the "feet" height and painted those numbers. I added painted flower cutouts on either saide with their names on either side. Then I outlined the painted colored line in white and did my own spattered paint flare. I think what stands out is it is such a creative idea for such a classic item.
Where do you sell your crafts presently?
I just got up the nerve to actually show other my art/crafts, so this is a new process for me. Currently, I am selling on Etsy.com and trying to get some pieces in local boutique shops here in Montgomery.
Why are handmade crafts important to you?
Easy-personality. While my house may look like a fridge covered in a kindergarten kids drawings, I like that everything that defines the decor of my house is mine, its one of kind, and I love the my daughter walks around and says, "mommy did it-pretty".
