Handmade is very important to me. Each design is unique…not something you can find on every shelf at the mall or on every other child at school. It is also made with love. Each shirt is made with love and designed to be cherished hand-me downs for years to come. I think handmade products symbolize love and are more sentimental and cherished.

What got you started crafting?
My mother was a Home Economics teacher and she taught me how to sew but it wasn't until my 20's that I fell in love with sewing when I started making thematic literacy bags for my first grade students. I would sew thematic appliques on tote bags to send home fun reading activities for my students. Then, later in life when I had my three children I began making appliqued shirts for them and making them for my friends. My friends encouraged me to put them online and that is how my appliqued shirt business started.
What is your source of inspiration?
My children. All of my designs are made with their likes/dislikes in mind. The quality of my designs is always tested on them first. I design something and then let them wear it and wash it, wear it and wash it, to see if the new design or the new fabric is kid friendly and machine washable. I love experimenting with new fabrics and new textures but I they must pass the kid/wash test first.
What have you made recently?
I just finished up making a 1.5 shirt for my niece who turns 18 months old today. My sister likes to take pictures every six months to document how much little Harper has changed and grown. So, last night I worked on a 1.5 shirt for her 18 month pictures.
Where do you sell your crafts presently?
I sell my literacy bags online at my teacher supply store, and I sell my holiday shirts on Etsy.
I also sell my shirts at local craft fairs in my area.
